London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama marks the centenary of the birth of Elizabeth Maconchy this autumn with a series of concerts during October. The festival will feature performances of music from across Maconchy’s career including vocal and chamber music and many of the string quartets for which she became renowned. Performers include the Barbirolli Quartet, Da Capo Quartet, OKEANOS as well as students of the GSMD.
Alongside the Maconchy works, music by the composer’s daughter Nicola LeFanu will also be performed, and LeFanu will also introduce many of the concerts.
