David Poutney revisits Benedict Mason’s football opera, Playing Away , after the highly regarded premiere production at the Munich Biennale in 1994. The new production will be presented at Bregenz Festival (www.bregenzerfestspiele.com) on August 12, 14 and 16 2007 with the Niederösterreichische Tonkünstler Orchester under the baton of Kristjan Järvi. It is a coproduction with Festspielhaus St Pölten and forms part of the festival's series KAZ.007 (Kunst aus der Zeit) which is dedicated in 2007 to British contemporary music.
