Philip Glass will open this year’s Lichfield Festival when he gives a rare UK performance of his music for solo piano in Lichfield Cathedral. Glass will personally introduce the programme which consists of music from 1976 to the present originally composed for solo piano, as well as for organ or instrumental combinations.

“This special festival opening event will certainly provide a glimpse into the intricacies of the composer's work in its most fundamental form,” comments festival director Richard Hawley. “We are also deeply honored to share in the international celebrations marking Philip Glass’s 70th birthday.”
