Royal Philharmonic Society Awards 2003

Royal Philharmonic Society Awards 2003
The shortlists for the RPS Music Awards, which recognise outstanding achievement in classical music during 2002, were announced on 2 April 2003.
In the composition categories, three of the six shortlisted works are published by the Music Sales Group: Per Nørgård's String Quartet no.9 (shortlisted in the Chamber-Scale Composition category), Stuart MacRae's Ancrene Wisse and Kaija Saariaho's L'amour de loin (both shortlisted in the Large-Scale Composition category).
Tony Fell, Chairman of the RPS comments: "The shortlists published today are a clear demonstration that, despite the odds, in all fields and on every scale, fervent musical imagination and artistic invention is very much alive."
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel on 7 May.
