Veil of the Temple in Germany
The German premiere of The Veil of the Temple by John Tavener will take place on May 26 in Berlin. Simon Halsey conducts the all-night vigil at the Hamburger Banhof Museum. This is the fifth production since its premiere in 2003. The setting is staged and designed by Rogier Hardemann and Rico Heidler. The Rundfunkchor Berlin will join forces with five choirs to present the seven hours of music as a ritual journey through continents and times. Another new choral work The Beautiful Names, setting the ninety-nine names of Allah culled from the Qur’an will be premiered on June 19 at Westminster Cathedral.
