Sir John Tavener's Lamentations and Praises has won Best Classical Contemporary Composition at the 45th Grammy Awards. The Teldec recording, by Chanticleer, who premiered the work at Stanford University, CA in January 2002, also won Best Small Ensemble Performance (with or without Conductor). The award ceremony was held in Madison Square Garden in New York on 23 February.
