On March 1 the New York Philharmonic will premiere 'The Song and Dance and Tears', a major new work by Schirmer composer Bright Sheng. The work is a tone poem for piano, cello, pipa, Chinese wind instruments, and orchestra. Bright Sheng will also be featured composer at Carnegie Hall's Making Music series on March 4. The evening will feature performances of his chamber music and an interview with the series director Ara Guzelimian.
