Programme Note
Tell me is an arrangement of the first movement of Now fatal change and was made for Juice Vocal Ensemble who gave the premiere at Vale of Glamorgan Festival on 11 May 2014. My original work was written in 2012 for solo violin and countertenor, and sets the poem The Blessed Virgin’s Expostulation by Nahum Tate (1652-1715). The same text was set by Henry Purcell and published in 1693 as Tell me, some pitying angel.
