Tomasz Skweres (*1984) is a Polish composer and cellist, living in Vienna in Austria and Regensburg in Germany. He studied cello and composition at the University of Music in Vienna - Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien.

 In the last years the orchestral compositions play the most important role in his work as a composer, with performances by renown orchestras like RSO Wien (Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna) and Wiener Concert-Verein from Austria, German Orchestras Munich Chamber Orchestra, Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra of Schleswig Holstein, the Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra and Niederbayerische Philharmonie, Polisch Orchestras Leopoldinum and Cappella Gedanensis, Hastings Philharmonics from England and Global Symphony Orchestra in Hong-Kong. His works are regularly performed by renowned festivals, including Wien Modern, Warsaw Autumn, Musica Polonica Nova, ISCM World New Music Days 2016 in Korea, ISCM World New Music Days 2025 in Portugal, Festival Musica in Strasbourg in France and performed numerous ensembles, such as Apollon Musagetes Quartett, New Music Orchestra (Poland), Austrian Ensemble for New Music (ÖENM), vocal ensemble Ekmeles from USA, Ensemble NAMES from Austria, Duo Aliada and Flute Duo Łukasz Długosz and Agata Kielar-Długosz.

 Tomasz Skweres is a laureate of more then ten international composition competitions, in 2019 Tomasz Skweres received the 2nd prize at the "Zemlinsky Prize" – one of the largest international composition competitions. The artistic work of Tomasz Skweres has been supported many times by scholarships, including those of the Austrian Ministry of Culture, the Herbert von Karajan Foundation, and awards such as the Publicity Prize of the Austrian AKM, Förderpreis der Stadt Wien (a composition prize of the city of Vienna), Kulturförderpreis der Stadt Regensburg (Culture Prize of the City of Regensburg) and the Theodor Körner Preis of the President of Austria. Skweres' works are published by the Doblinger Publishing House in Vienna, albums with his compositions have been released by DUX, Genuin, Col Legno, Hännsler Classics and Orlando Records.

 Skweres is the principal cellist of the Regensburg Philharmonic Orchestra and an active interpreter in the field of contemporary music – as soloist and chamber musician – performing at various international festivals. Many composers, among others Paweł Hendrich, Mateusz Ryczek and Alexandra Karastoyanowa-Hermentin dedicated him their works. He is regularly holding master classes and he was lecturer for cello at University for Music Detmold (Hochschule für Musik Detmold) and at the HfKM Regensburg - College of Catholic Church Music & Musical Education in Regensburg in Germany.
