Markus Lehmann-Horn's compositional style demonstrates ‘a flair for musical theatre, not least because of his careful handling of the vocal parts’. The dramaturgical concept of Woyzeck 2.0 – Traumfalle ‘offers an extremely positive perspective for the entire work, entirely in keeping with the spirit of the prize's namesake,’ stated the jury of the 2010 Gerhard Schedl Music Theatre Prize, naming him the first winner of the €25,000 prize. The world premiere took place on 17 April 2012 at the Neue Oper Wien. He also received the 2010 Berlin Opera Prize, awarded by the Neuköllner Oper, for his short opera ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
