Dickson Mbi is a Cameroon-born, London-based composer, choreographer and performer whose work bridges music, movement and storytelling. Renowned internationally for his roots in hip-hop culture and exceptional popping technique, Mbi has developed a distinctive artistic voice that combines contemporary composition with influences drawn from African heritage, funk, soul and electronic soundscapes. His original scores play a central role in his acclaimed stage productions, creating immersive worlds that deepen the emotional and narrative power of his choreography. Mbi gained widespread recognition for Enowate, the Olivier Award-winning work he choreographed and co-composed, inspired by a transformative journey to his ancestral village in Cameroon. As a composer, he continues to explore themes of identity, memory, spirituality and human connection, crafting music that is both cinematic and deeply personal.
