Summary

Walter Bricht was an Austrian-American pianist, composer and teacher, born in Vienna. Bricht taught in the city at the Horak-Schulen and the Vienna Volkskonservatorium during the 1930s, and composed a number of musical works. In 1938, Bricht left Austria after the Nazi regime found that he had Jewish-born grandparents. Following an initial year in New York City as a church organist, Bricht began teaching at the Mason College of Music in Charleston, WV. In 1963 he joined the faculty of the Indiana University School of Music.
