Summary

The Danish composer Per Drud Nielsen was born in Odense in 1950 and studied musicology at the University of Aarhus. Here he also became PhDr in 1981. He was a teacher at the University of Aalborg for a long time, where he focused on the four-part writing of Danish folk songs.

Drud Nielsen’s research in arranging led to a passion for composing original works,and since the beginning of the 2000’s he has had a prolific output of vocal music. His music is written in extension of the Danish tradition, displaying a slightly more modern sense of tonality. Drud Nielsen’s compositions are founded on a strong sense of melody.
