Biography

Alain Weber was born on 8 December 1930 in Château-Thierry (France). After studying at the Paris Conservatory, he was awarded the Premier Grand Prix de Rome. His stay in Italy furthered the development of his musical style without involving any kind of slavish adherence to a ‘school’. On his return from the Villa Medici he was appointed to teach music theory and later counterpoint at the Paris Conservatory, where since 1970 he has been Advisory Teacher for students. Alain Weber has given many masterclasses abroad (Yugoslavia, Korea, Taiwan, Spain, Tunisia, Belgium, etc.). He has written several important teaching manuals and is the composer of works performed all over the world.
