Summary

Bodil Heister is a Danish composer, musician, conductor and actor. She attended the Royal Danish Academy of Music. Heister’s compositional output is not confined to select genres but includes an accomplished array songs, symphonic music, music for TV-productions and stage music, most notably her well-loved children’s opera Det Forjættede Land. Equally distinguished is her career as a conductor in some of Denmark’s most notable theatres. 

Besides this, she is an ardent educator and lecturer. She has written a number of educational books including Det store Orkester ("The grand Orchestra”),which serves as a guide to the symphony orchestra, and Den fynske spillemand  ("The fiddler from Funen”), a children’s version of Carl Nielsen’s childhood memories.
