Peter Abrahamsen is a Danish singer, musician and composer. He debuted at the age 16 as an early rock singer and has since worked in the Danish music industry both as composer, manager and producer.

Peter Abrahamsen is a Danish singer, musician and composer. He debuted at the age 16 as an early rock singer and has since worked in the Danish music industry both as composer, manager and producer.

Peter Abrahamsen is especially knowns for writing music for poems by poets such as Carl Scharnberg, Oskar Hansen and Rudolf Nielsen. Amongst them, Frihed, ret og tro, with poet Oskar Hansen released in 1995.

He founded, what was called the ‘litterære bølge’ (the literary wave), where musicians were paired with literature in an artistic symbiosis. Some of the greatest examples of this are Mathilde’s version of Tove Ditlevsen’s Pigesind, Sebastian’s Bertol Brecht songs Tiderne skifter and Anne Linnet’s recording of another of Tove Ditlevsen’s poems Kvindesind.

Peter Abrahamsen is still singing today and has, in the later years, focused on the Nordic song heritage.
