Geoffrey Bush: Sonatina

Commodo - Molto moderato - Allegro

Geoffrey Bush provides a link with John Ireland since the latter helped him with advice and criticism while he was still at school. He was also instrumental in introducing the young Eric Parkin to Ireland, and the latter's own Sonatina for piano was avowedly the model for Geoffrey Bush's, which is neo-classical in spirit. The first movement is a concise sonata structure; the second weaves a Bach-like texture; the third is a kind of two part invention.
