Fresh from the triumph of his new opera, John Adams headed straight to Sweden for a week-long celebration of his music at the Stockholm International Composer’s Festival (10-17 November). Proclaiming Adams as “a phenomenon in the world of contemporary music. His works make listeners go wild,” festival organizers presented films and informal composer chats, as well as concerts ranging from pianist Rolf Hind performing Phrygian Gates to Adams conducting Grand Pianola Music and The Chairman Dances.
