Dessner's Sing Sing score performed live to film

On January 19 2025, in a special event, the National Concert Hall in Dublin will host the premiere of the acclaimed film Sing Sing with the music played live to picture for the first time. Renowned composer Bryce Dessner’s score will be performed by the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Robert Ames. This unique audio-visual immersive experience will hold significance as the event will be hosted by Bryce Dessner himself, introducing the special version of the work.

Sing Sing, a film based on true events depicts the story of Colman Domingo, a man wrongly imprisoned who finds his purpose by joining a theatre group within the facility among other unlikely characters. This film screening accompanied by the live performance of Dessner’s score will celebrate the transformative power of art and music through storytelling, allowing the audience to experience the completed work as a whole through a new lens.
