World premiere of Nigel Kennedy’s Violin Concerto No. 1 “Für Ludwig Van”

The latest piece Violin Concerto No. 1 “Für Ludwig Van by Nigel Kennedy is to have its world premiere with Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and conductor Tomasz Tokarczyk on July 16 in Knoops Park, Bremen, Germany.

A second performance of this work on July 22 will take place as part of Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Emkendorf, Germany.

Violinist and composer Nigel Kennedy is, without a doubt, one of the most dazzling eccentrics of the classical music scene and is at the same time acknowledged as one of the world’s leading violin virtuosos. In this special concert, Kennedy will wish Ludwig van Beethoven a belated 250th birthday with a specially composed piece.

Kennedy says of the world premiere “I wrote Für Ludwig Van inspired by the musical work of this ingenious rebel, who provides an autonomous path for all creative musicians in the future (if they want it!). My colleagues in the orchestra and myself will endeavor to give an absolutely unique perspective of the man who changed music more than any other.”
