Anna Thorvaldsdottir: New orchestral work announced
The world premiere of a new orchestral work by Anna Thorvaldsdottir is among the highlights of the newly-announced Berlin Philharmonic's 20/21 season. CATAMORPHOSIS is the intriguing title of the substantial 20-minute piece, which has been commissioned by the Stiftung Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Iceland Symphony Orchestra.

Kirill Petrenko will conduct the world premiere performances, which take place on January 27, 28 and 29 2021 at the Philharmonie, Berlin. The concert on January 29 will be also streamed live via the Berlin Philharmonic’s Digital Concert Hall platform.

Less than a month later, the New York Philharmonic will present the North American premiere in four concerts conducted by Hannu Lintu from February 10 to 13. The commission forms part of the New York Philharmonic's Project 19 commission programme.

Further performances will be announced in the coming months.
