Daniel Catán's 'Florencia en el Amazonas' Comes to New York
Florencia en el Amazonas is the beloved and most frequently performed opera of Daniel Catán. It has travelled the world in over twelve different productions since its premiere in 1996.

This magical tale of the transformative power of love, with a libretto in Spanish by Marcela Fuentes-Berain, arrives at long last in New York this month as part of the New York City Opera renaissance season.

The production is staged and conceived by John Hoomes with Barry Steele and Cara Schneider and debuted at Nashville Opera in 2015. Dean Williamson conducts a cast which includes Elizabeth Caballero as Florencia and Philip Cokorinos as Riolobo.
